Rainy Day Outfit Guide: Waterproof vs Water-Resistant
The difference between a good and a miserable rainy day outfit is one spec: whether your outer layer is actually waterproof or merely water-resistant. Waterproof means sealed seams and membrane fabric (ePTFE, PU-coated shells) that block standing rain; water-resistant means light drizzle protection that soaks through in a downpour. Build the outfit top-down: a hooded waterproof shell as the non-negotiable anchor, quick-drying layers underneath, water-resistant cargos or loose pants that do not cling when damp, and boots or thick-soled sneakers that keep puddle water below the ankle line. What shoes work best in the rain?
High-shaft leather boots or platform soles with deep tread. The goal is to keep the waterline below your sock: puddle splash hits the shaft, not the laces. Smooth leather sheds water better than mesh; if you wear chunky sneakers, choose ones with a tall midsole and accept that mesh panels will eventually wick.
How do I keep my phone dry in the rain?

Rainy day vs winter outfit — what is the difference?
